Adult Female Carolina Dog Mix - Landrum, SC

Indie is a 1.5-year-old Carolina Dog mix with the heart of a survivor and the spirit of a playful pup just waiting to shine. This beautiful girl’s story began with heartbreak — dumped by her owner on a busy road and left to fend for herself, Indie was terrified and in “lost dog mode” for over a month, too scared to trust anyone who tried to help. It took a lot of patience (and a humane trap baited with Bojangles chicken) to bring her to safety.

But since then, Indie has begun to blossom. Day by day, she’s remembering what it means to feel safe, to play, and to be loved. While she’s still nervous in new situations, Indie is making incredible progress already. She’s a friendly, sweet girl who enjoys the company of other dogs and comes alive when she’s outside — sniffing, exploring, and just enjoying the simple joys of being a dog again.

Because she is still recovering mentally from being dumped and is shy/nervous in new situations (like moving to an adopter's home), Indie will need a patient, understanding home where she can adjust at her own pace. A securely fenced yard is required for her safety, as it gives her the freedom to enjoy the outdoors with peace of mind. She would thrive in a calm, stable environment with people who are willing to earn her trust — and who will never let her down the way others have.
